Down on the Farm

This week during play group Casen and I went to Roba's Farm here in Scranton. It was so fun! Casen and his friends had fun feeding and petting bunnies, chickens, sheep, goats, pigs, and some other animals.

We went through a corn maze and the kids had a blast finding the right way. Then we went on a tractor ride.
Casen loved watching the wheels move. There was a great play area with a big train, a big truck, a huge pirate ship, and some other fun things to climb on.

There was a sand pit that Casen spent most of his time in.
Casen and Will had fun on the slide in the hay.
Then we finished off with the pig races.
Casen was in charge of cheering for the blue pig. His pig lost but he still won a spider ring.
Will's pig won and his prize was a pig nose. We borrowed it to take a picture.
Casen was not a huge fan. We were at the farm for a few hours and still didn't see everything. Rilyn has a half day on Monday so I think we are going to try to go back as a family and get our pumpkins and have some fun with Rilyn and Dad.
On a side note I have to share how Casen has been helping me keep in shape. I have been running on my treadmill everyday and Casen has decided that running alone isn't enough so he gives me obstacles to avoid while running. Isn't that nice. Usually when I get done running the back of my treadmill has a pile of toys that he has put on the treadmill and launched at me.
My silly little boy!

Softball Awards

Rilyn recieved a medal for playing t-ball this year.

She was so excited to get an award. It was such a fun event. They had a dj and played games and had lunch for the families. The kids had a blast running around. We had a fun week at home this week too. Casen and I made some bags of finger paint and taped them to the floor to play with.
They kept him busy for a long time so I could go though the kitchen cabinets and pack some things. They kept him busy for so long that he wore himself out and ended up crashed on the couch.
Casen also leaned how to do the ASU pitchfork.
We are all so proud. This kid seriously cracks me up. Since Rilyn is in school all day everyday we get to spend lots of quality time together. He has so much personality and in the last few months has really started to become his own person. Since Rilyn has started school and can't talk for him anymore he is having to talk for himself and he can talk really well. I love listening to his little words. Some of my favorites are "See" which he says when he wants you to look, "Um-Ere" come here, "Peas" please, "Da-ah" thank you, "Uv oo two" love you too, which is what he always says for I love you even if he says it first, "Hoo-Hoo-Hoo" yo-ho-ho which is what Jake and the Never Land pirates say. He is so cute! Oh and the highlight of the week was going to Krispy Kreme for free donuts because the kids we're dressed like pirates.
Arrg mates!

Holy Shiz!

This week was my birthday! I started it off by running a half marathon. I actually ran the same half marathon last year the day after my birthday. This year it happened to be the day before my birthday so basically I ran the same race twice in one year. That's cool. Anyways, race went well, my time sucked but hey at least I'm out there running 13.1 miles instead of sleeping in. My actual birthday was Monday and Rilyn remembered right away and told me happy birthday. She also informed me I needed a cake and since I was too dang sore from my run the day before I bought one. My girlfriend Carrie was nice enough to bring me lunch to celebrate. Thanks Carrie you're awesome! After dinner we ate my yummy birthday cake and Rilyn kept asking when my friends were coming over for a party. Sorry sweetheart, Mommy's old so we don't do parties anymore. Oh and the topper of the night was going to meet the teacher night at Rilyn's school. Nothing says parent like celebrating your birthday at meet the teacher night. Oh well. Don't think that the excitement ended there though. Oh no, see Cody and I had this little secret that we had been keeping and we were planning on keeping it a secret until we had a bomb dropped on us, an awesome exciting bomb, not the wold ending kind. Anyways, Tuesday I went to the dr and everything was fine things just seemed a little further along so the dr ordered an ultrasound to verify dates and what not. Oh in case you couldn't tell the secret was we are adding to the family, shhh don't tell. So Thursday I go to the hospital for my ultrasound and the tech tells me well I have a surprise for you... There's 2 of them!

WHAT?!? How is that for an amazing birthday present! We are so dang excited! I think my mom had the best reaction when I told her which is where the post title came from. I called her and she told me about how horrible her remodel is going and all I could think was do I tell her now or call her back so I said "wow I'm sorry to hear all that. I had an interesting day today"
Mom: "Really? Why?"
Me: "First do we have a history of twins in our family?"
Mom: " No, why?"
Me: "Because I'm pregnant with twins!!!"
Mom: "Holy Shiz!"
Yes mom, our feelings exactly! We are so surprised and excited and overwhelmed but mainly excited! Especially since I'm due while we will be in Arizona so I will have lots of helpers and our families can meet the babies right away! We don't know what we are having yet but they are both healthy and right on track and we are crossing our fingers, and praying, and doing everything else hoping that things stay that way. I'm 12 weeks along so we are past the scary part. Rilyn is so excited about there being 2 babies but she is very confused about how there can be 2 babies at one time, she's not alone there! Casen has no clue what's going on but he's happy because everyone else is happy. We will keep everyone posted on everything as we get closer to our due date but I don't think I will ever forget my birthday this year! BEST BIRTHDAY WEEK EVER!

First Day of Kindergarten!

This week Rilyn started kindergarten! What the heck? When did my baby turn into a big girl? Monday night to get ready for school Cody gave her a blessing.

When we got the chair out she thought I was going to give her a haircut and she got a little nervous but once we promised I wouldn't touch her hair she was ok. She is such a goof. After we set out her clothes for the next day and went to bed. She woke up bright and early the next morning ready to go!

We got all ready and walked to school as a family since Cody took the day off. There are 6 kids from her preschool class that are in her kindergarten class so at least she has some familiar faces. Her teacher seemed really nice and Rilyn said she had a great day. Its a big adjustment getting used to not having her around all day. We really miss her. Especially Casen. When we got home from taking Rilyn to school he walked around the house saying "Riree where are you???" for like 2 hours. When school was out we all walked back and picked up Rilyn. She was so excited to see her brother when school was over. I love how much they love each other. Everyday this week since then has been about the same, except that Cody has had to work every other day. Rilyn has loved school (she isn't a huge fan of waking up early everyday, she is NOT a morning person) and comes home excited to play with Casen. For whatever reason we haven't had the open house at school yet (I thought it should be before school starts because I think it makes more since to meet the person spending 6 hours with my kid before I just had her over but hey that's school I guess) so on Monday night I get to go meet the teacher and check out her classroom and hear about her plans for the year. Another fun this we did this week was throw a baby shower for Ashlee.

Rilyn was so excited to get to be a part of the big girl fun. We had fondue and made headbands for baby girl Meads. We had a blast! So excited for you guys, Ashlee and Smitty! Can't wait to meet baby G.

La Festa Italiana

This week we had some fun adventures. We have been practicing waking up early and getting ready for school so that next Tuesday when school starts we can have the routine down pat. We decided to practice walking to school too. Of course on the way home we had to stop and take a break at the park. The kids had a blast playing on the slides.

Lola took a break in the stroller while we played.
Later on in the week we had another playdate at the park with Will and Abby. The weather has been great so we've been having one last big fun week before school starts. This weekend was La Festa Italiana in downtown Scranton.

We skipped it last year because of rain but Saturday the weather was perfect so we met up with the Randals to have some italian food and, my personal favorite, cannolis! I was the only one who had ever had a cannoli before so I had to introduce the rest of the gang. For the kiddies we got HUGE cookies. Rilyn was too busy running around like a crazy person with Will to sit down and eat but Casen ate her share of cookie and ate every bite of his pizza. You want to make that boy happy, give him food. He took his cookie and jumped in the stroller, I think to protect his goods, and when Abby came over to say "Hi" he got a little pushy.

The funny part was Abby thought it was a game and kept coming back. I guess thats what happens when you've got a big brother. I think the kids favorite part, besides eating, were the race cars.

We spent like 20 minutes just standing by the track watching the cars go round and round. I think it was making Cody miss driving his Slash.
Oh and I had to share some other funny things that have been going on at our house. Rilyn is getting really into trying to spell and write notes. She wasn't feeling too well one day and made a sign that says " I am sick" with a sad face.
It made me laugh. Rilyn also got a hair cut this week to get ready for school to start.
We just had them trim up the front a little bit to straighten up what was growing up from her bob. She looks so cute and she did so good holding still. And my silly little Lola has found herself a nice place to hang out. She is my little shadow and follows me around the house. Because I'm trying to sell Rilyn's chair on craigslist it is downstairs to clean and take pictures of. Lola has decided it is hers.
Every time I got into the kitchen she goes to her chair. Silly dog.
Oh and one last thing...POTTY TRAINING UPDATE!! Casen is doing AWESOME potty training! He has been using his big boy potty and wearing his big boy pants everyday.
He is so proud of himself. My favorite thing is after he sits on the pot he stands up, punches his had in the air, and yells "WOOHOO"! Tell me that is not the cutest thing you have ever heard! We are so proud of our little big boy and can't wait to be 100% accident free. Way to go Casen! I do have one funny story that I have to write down before I forget about it. I was working at the computer and when I'm at the computer Lola is usually in my lap, as she was this time, and all of a sudden I hear Casen yelling "poo-poo poo-poo" which means he has to potty (everything is currently called poo-poo) so I got up as fast as I could and ran to get him to the potty. After I finished taking care of Casen's business I went back to the other room to finish up on the computer only to find Lola sitting on the kitchen table.
Poor dog. I must have thrown her up there in my hurry to get to the other room and its too high for her to jump down so she just sat there waiting for me to get her down. (And then of course she had to wait a little longer for me to take a picture of my crazy moment)
