Trick or Treat Round 1

Well this week was pretty low key because Ri and I are both still sick. (We've been sick since last week) We carved our little pumpkins. One is a vampire and one looks like a sticker that Rilyn had. It was actually pretty hard work because they were so small. Next year if we get one to carve its going to be big! We also went through the Halloween stuff to get ready for Trick or Treating and found Lola's costume. Shes a princess. Rilyn loved it, Lola hated it. We also did our first round of trick or treating at the mall. They have a thing called the Trail of Treats where you go around the mall and like every store is passing out candy. Our mall isn't very big and it still took us over an hour and a half to get them all. By the time we left Ri and I were so tired and her bag so heavy I had to carry it. This next week we have even more trick or treating to do. Our trunk or treat is on Wed and we still have to go to Zoo Boo. And lets not forget the actual night of Halloween! We're going to have so much candy in our house! I guess I'll have to save it up and maybe it can be my treat for when I go see New Moon next month! (Can you tell I'm excited!)
I just have to put up this picture because Ri is too funny. She somehow turned one of her cars into a golf cart. Her clubs are attached to the car! Shes too smart!

Wow its COLD!

I know its a little early to be saying how cold it is, especially because in a few more weeks its going to be FREEZING (literally) it is definitely getting cold around here though. Its been in the 40's all week and this is how we have to dress if Ri and I are going on a walk. We feel like Eskimos! Ri went to a birthday party for her friend Miles. It was a costume party so she got to try out her costume. She had to wear tights with her cheer outfit because it was so cold but it still looked pretty dang cute to me! She got to make a pumpkin at the party and loved it! We now have a growing pumpkin patch. We're up to 5 pumpkins! Rilyn has been enjoying spending time with her daddy! Since hes finishing up his anatomy class hes had a lot of "study time" so he's gotten to spend a little more time at home. Ri love playing with him. Their newest game is "horsey". Rilyn loves it! She also loves to help him study by sitting next to him in the chair and sharing earphones. What a big help! Oh and the biggest news of this week... IT SNOWED!! Its crazy! It snowed on the 15th and according the the news thats almost 2 weeks earlier than last year. Luckily it only stuck to my car and the roof and melted by lunch time. It was still fun though. It is supposed to warm up to the low 60's this week but I'm sure its going to get cold again soon!

Fall FUN

This weekend we went to a fun place called Port Farms with Ashlee and Smitty (or as Rilyn calls them Ashwee and Mitty). Its a farm that has a huge corn maze (unfortunately we didn't get to do it because the boys didn't want to get muddy) and a huge sand box full of corn (when we got out I had enough corn in my clothes to make dinner) and big slides that go down the side of a hill and pumpkin sling shots and tractor/hay rides and of course PUMPKINS! Rilyn walked around for like 15 minutes looking for the perfect pumpkin. We finally just picked one for her and told her we had to go home. I think she probably would have been there all day. (Don't you just love Rilyn's hat? I had to make it more girly because when she's all bundled up its hard to look girly)
Rilyn also got new Ariel jammies from Gramma and Pops! Thanks guys! She LOVES them!

Its Hard Work

Well its definately not summer around here anymore! For the last week its been in the 50's (some days it makes it to the 60's but not warm enough to count)! Its getting cold! I even had to turn on the heat! Can you believe it?!? I've been hearing in AZ that it just stopped making it into the 100's. How am I supposed to make it through the winter if its only fall and I'm freezing? Hopefully my blood thickens up really fast (too bad they don't make like a pill for that- it'd be a lot easier). Anyways, in Erie you actually have to do things to get ready for the cold weather and none of them include covering your plants with sheets like we do in AZ. We have to switch out our screen doors (check), pull up all your flowers (check), get new wiper blades (check), find warm blankets and sheets (check), and move all your kids toys inside (check). I kinda like our new screens. All you do is switch out the mesh screen for a glass panel. I did it all by myself while Cody was at school this week. I was pretty proud of myself. I like it because it keeps the house warmer and it looks a little nicer to look at. Keeping them clean is going to be a challenge though. My basement now looks like a park. Its kind of fun. Rilyn is in heaven since it's been over a week since she's been able to go out and play. From what I hear we have like 7 months until we can go outside again! Thats a long time! I'm supposed to run in a 10K in a few weeks and I'm a little worried because its been so rainy and cold I haven't been able to practice much. I don't want Ri out in the cold. She doesn't need to get sick again! Hopefully I get some more runs in in the next few weeks. Some other big news at our house is that Ri is getting bigger! I had to move her up into size 3T clothes! I can't believe she has grown so much! I'm pretty sure she was only in size 2 for like 6 months. She is just getting so tall! All of her 2's we're turning into high waters. We have more warm clothes in size 3 so it works out good. Hopefully she slows down enough to wear these for a while! I don't know what happened to my baby! I wish she could just stay little forever! This is my big girl playing her new princess game. Thank you Grandma and Pops she LOVES it!

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Man the weeks just seem to be flying by! I hope the next 4 years go this fast. Then med school will seem like a piece of cake and we can be headed back closer to family (hopefully). This week Ri and I went to the Erie Children's Museum. It was way fun. Rilyn LOVED it! She didn't want to leave. They have story time at the museum every Thursday (I'm thinking we're going to start going) where they read books and make a craft to go along with it and this week the theme was Penn State. Rilyn was very confused when during the story all the kids started cheering "We are Penn State". Poor girl has no idea who Penn State is. She was trying to cheer along but was just making random noises. It was really funny. I'm trying to decided if I should teach her about Penn State. I just feel like a traitor. I mean come on we are ASU all the way over here!! We ended up buying a membership 1- because she loved it and 2- because everyone has told me that when it gets really cold you need one so you have some place to have fun. We found 4 new frogs/fish this week. We also got some more sidewalk chalk. Rilyn already used up all of the chalk Aunt Krista sent. She's been busy. Luckily it rained a lot this week so she had a blank canvas to start again. I tried to teach her hopscotch but she just thought I was crazy and starting jumping all over. Maybe when she's older. We also went to the zoo this week. While we were there I'm pretty sure Ri got asked on her first date by Anderson! Ut oh! It was so cute! The played so well together. The date converstion went something like this:
Anderson - Want to go on the train?
Rilyn - Yeah!
Anderson - I have money in my pocket I'll take you on the train!
Rilyn - OK!
It was cute! They didn't end up going on the train because it wasn't running but we sure did have a great time looking at the animals. My dad has been asking for some new photos of Rilyn for his new office so on Saturday we decided to have a photo shoot down at Preque before it starts to rain again. I found my dream spot to photograph! I have always wanted to find a beach with a picket fence and the tall beach grass. I FOUND IT! I had to drive really far down Preque to get there but it was so pretty! We also found the light house and took some pictures there and while we were there a big old sail boat (my guess is its probably the Brig Niagara) was sailing by so its in some of the shots too. Now I just wish Cody was around enough for me to photo shop them on his computer! Oh and on the way home from Preque we stopped at Saras because its only going to be open for like another week (and they have AWESOME french fries) to get a hot dog and fries and on the way home Rilyn ate the entire FOOT LONG hot dog! What a punk! So much for sharing!

One Very Busy Week

This week has been a very busy one for us! On Monday Rilyn and I decided it was cool enough we could put up our fall decorations (its been in the 60's the last couple of days and leaves are starting to change). Rilyn's favorites are Mr. Potato Head and the Princess "Ponkin" (thats how Ri says it). On Tuesday we had our usual Story Time and then found 5 new frogs on the way home. On Wednesday we took it easy and stayed home and Rilyn got new jammies from Grandma and Grandpa. She loves them. She put them on and starting spinning around saying "its a wonderful dream" (she was trying to copy Cinderella when the mice fix her dress for the ball). On Thursday we went on a fun road trip with Ashlee to Ohio (thats where the closest Costco is). We decided that just going to Costco wasn't a good enough reason to go to Ohio so we went looking for an Amish community that was supposed to be pretty good. We found a few buggies and thought that was way cool. I only took pictures of the buggies because I've heard that Amish people don't like their pictures taken. We also went to a chocolate factory and got to take ourselves on a tour behind the scenes and see them making candy. It was pretty neat. On Friday we went grocery shopping (I know - way exciting). And on Saturday we went to Pittsburgh to visit the Hulls. It was way fun! It was the first time Rilyn got to meet Lainey and Wrigley and she had a blast playing with them. Kristy, Lainey, Rilyn and I went to the childrens museum and it was so fun. They had a whole section dedicated to Mr. Rogers (my moms favorite) because apparently Mr. Rogers was filmed in Pitt. Who knew? They had the sets (or at least replicas) and a pair of Mr. Rogers shoes, and Trolly. We all had a ton of fun! It was so great to see friends from back home (its nice to know we're not totally alone out here). We hope they make it up to Erie soon because Rilyn is already missing Lainey and Wrigley!

I also have to add that I've been in a crafty mood lately so I made wipey cases for some baby showers and its starting to get cold so I made Rilyn some cute hats and ear warmers. I am also proud to say that I grew a tomato! Go me!

So this is what 24 looks like

Well this week marked a fun date for our family. My birthday! Yeah! Our week started out really fun with a package from Frankie, Krista, and the kids. They sent us a box full of stuff to make cookies, and not just any cookies but PRINCESS cookies! Rilyn was in heaven! They also sent some sidewalk chalk which Rilyn also loves and a little fairy that has joined Rilyn growing collection. She calls it one of her tinker fairies. The day before my birthday a huge box came from my parents with this HUGE "No Peeking" sticker on it. The UPS man gave me a good talking to about how I'm not allowed to peek! I couldn't believe it! I listened though (I know aren't you surprised Mom) and waited until we woke up on my birthday to open it. It was a pair of really cute boots for me and of course the Princess got some too! So spoiled! I had a great birthday. My family really made me feel special all the way from AZ (they sent me a cheesecake because they couldn't make me one like they usually do). And my friends made me feel special here (Ashlee and Smitty brought me over cupcakes and balloons). You might notice that theres an almost naked kid in the balloons. She opened the door with me for Ashlee and Smitty and as soon as she saw the balloons she said "Oh thank you" like they were for her! What a nut! She shook the heck out of those balloons too. By the next day they were all on the ground she had played with them so hard! And my own little family made me feel pretty special (but I always feel special with them). On my birthday Rilyn, Ashlee, and I went to the zoo. It was a lot of fun. We even got to see the polar bear outside of his little cave! Ri and I decided he looked like a big version of my parents dog Tex. Rilyn also decided that Ashlee is her new best friend and drug her all around the zoo. The funniest thing that happened was while looking at a monkey it charged Rilyn (they were separated by a window instead of a cage) who was eating a bag of chips. Rilyn jumped so high! It was so funny! If you ask her about it she tells you it was scary but that the monkey couldn't get her because there was a window. What a goof!

I also have to share what a crazy kid I have. She has recently decided that its more fun to jump from the top of her slide rather than actually slide down it. I'm waiting for her to break something! This kid is NUTS! She totally reminds me of my little brother. He was crazy and still is!
